The Security Service of Ukraine has uncovered new information and psychological operation orchestrated by russian intelligence services against the Hungarian community in the Zakarpattia region.

According to the agency, the campaign is designed to destabilize the region and fuel tensions between Ukraine and Hungary.

Investigators found that russian operatives are using caller ID spoofing through IP telephony, allowing them to place threatening calls that appear to come from Ukrainian phone numbers. These calls have targeted representatives of the Hungarian national minority.

During the calls, unidentified individuals introduced themselves as members of so-called nationalist groups or even as Ukrainian law enforcement officers. They reportedly demanded that community members leave Ukraine and issued threats of physical harm.

Technical analysis confirmed that the calls originated from russian territory.

The SSU says efforts are underway to neutralize and block the hostile operation, while urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any threats or suspicious communications to law enforcement authorities.
