The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces officially confirms the attack on the Khanskaya military airfield in Adygea.
The defense forces hit an ammunition depot located on the territory of a military facility, and a fire broke out there.
Su-34 and Su-27 aircraft were based at the airfield. Detailed information on the consequences of the strike is being clarified.
The attack on the Khanska military airfield was an operation of the GUR, the SBU and the SSU.
The Russians used this airfield to refuel their aircraft and launch missile and bomb attacks on Ukraine. At the time of the attack, 57 Russian combat and training aircraft and helicopters were stationed there, including Su-34, Su-35, and Mi-8. It is currently being established how many of them were destroyed or damaged.
Khanskaya airfield is located three kilometers from the village of Khanskaya and six kilometers from Maikop. It is home to the 272nd Training Aviation Base of Polotsk, which is part of the Krasnodar Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots named after A.K. Serov.
Despite the fire at the airfield, which was recorded by NASA’s monitoring system, the Russian authorities and military agencies did not officially recognize the attack on the airfield.
