People posted screenshots on Reddit and Twitter showing the sidebars of the chatbot interface with stories from third-party users.  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/itc.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/chat.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/itc.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/chat.jpg\" alt=\"ChatGPT revealed other people's chat histories - OpenAI had to shut down the chatbot for 10 hours, but it still works with restrictions  \" class=\"wp-image-1385440\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n<p>Although the images show only the headlines, not the entire conversation, the incident makes us think about what it takes to write a chatbot.  <\/p>\n\n<p>An OpenAI spokesperson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-03-21\/openai-shut-down-chatgpt-to-fix-bug-exposing-user-chat-titles?sref=10lNAhZ9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> Bloomberg that the company has temporarily disabled ChatGPT. The problem was probably caused by a bug in the open-source software, which has <a href=\"https:\/\/status.openai.com\/incidents\/jq9232rcmktd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">not yet been named<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The chatbot was restored 10 hours later, but the chat history was still not available at the time of writing.
