In the Ukrainian information space, the enemy has many publicists and influencers who, pretending to be Ukrainian patriots, exaggerate our problems and deliberately inflate the betrayal.

Many of these Facebook groups, Telegram channels or other platforms look quite pro-Ukrainian, patriotic and allegedly on the side of the Ukrainian people and ordinary Ukrainians. They may have names with keywords such as “patriots”, “Glory to Ukraine”, “Glory to the Armed Forces”, “Bandera”, etc. and disguise themselves as super-patriotic resources. They will never publish pro-Russian propaganda or praise Putin or the USSR – they have a different mission. These are subversive “moles” in the Ukrainian information space who, in times of major crises, spread betrayal and exaggerate the scale of the problem. Even in times of major crises, they will remain under the mask of a “Ukrainian source” to continue to exert demoralizing and divisive influence on Ukrainians.

For example, when the whole of Ukraine is shocked by some statements from Washington, pseudo-Ukrainian resources hyperbolize what is said, add fabrications, state “betrayal” and shout that “everything is lost.” Often, they add to the severity of the situation, fabricating new, more radical details that did not actually exist. Their main goal is to demoralize and disillusion society. This is the first step, which, according to their plans and calculations, should be followed by chaos, popular uprisings, anarchy, the collapse of the Ukrainian vertical of power, riots in the Armed Forces, murders and looting in the streets, and the transformation of Ukraine into a failed state. This will make it easier for the Russians, who are washing themselves in blood in the trenches, to seize Ukraine by the hands of Ukrainians.

But even if we manage to achieve only demoralization and disillusionment of Ukrainians in their country, this will also be a significant result for the moles. Failure of mobilization, social apathy, and social paralysis at a time when we need to act together are direct consequences of demoralization.

They often exaggerate our problems, hyperbolize the strength of our enemies, intimidate us with scary scenarios and offer us an “easier option,” state the hopelessness and futility of our struggle, pretend to be on our side, pretend to want to save the lives of ordinary Ukrainians, but in reality, they would really like to see the capture of Ukraine not cost them so much and so bloody. So, unable to defeat us by force, being too weak, falling victim to their own mythology of their “second army of the world,” they are trying to defeat us by despair, betrayal, and spreading panic. And turning Ukrainians against the Ukrainian government and the Armed Forces is their double purpose.

If a source actively reports on the enormous strength of the Russian army and Ukraine’s inability to withstand it, on the inevitable betrayal and sale of Ukraine, on the futility of the struggle for existence and the futility of victims, it should be understood that this is primarily beneficial to the aggressor. In a smaller number of cases, these are figments of the imagination of local useful idiots who help the enemy seize their home for free, only demonstrating their incompetent stupidity on social media during the country’s defense against the invader.

Therefore, Ukrainians should be careful with all posts, publics, You Tube videos or telegram channels that are dominated by apocalyptic, decadent and panic moods – these are often latent pro-Russian channels of influence on Ukrainian society.
